Technicore Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) are designed to provide maximum flexibility regardless of the ground conditions your project may encounter. Technicore specializes in the design, manufacture and customization of these machines in a wide range of boring diameters.
Three generations of Tunnel Contracting experience have given us an extensive understanding of the challenges faced and practical solutions needed. This knowledge and experience has been integrated into the design, engineering and fabrication of every Technicore TBM, producing reliable, powerful, robust and economical machines, able to take the punishment of underground projects and get the job done profitably.

A major innovation in Technicore TBM machines is a new patented rock crusher
feature, which facilitates spoil removal in Earth Pressure Balance mode without the use of a slurry system. The rock crusher feature is available for larger and smaller diameter machines.

*   Consistent Power - Our rock crusher feature (in EPB mode)
works by crushing rocks as they enter the flood doors before they can enter the auger screw and jam the mechanism. This system allows significant increased boring efficiency through a wider variety of ground conditions.

* Power Options - Technicore TBM power systems are available in both hydraulic and the more efficient, powerful and environmentally friendly
Electric Variable Speed drive. The electronic system produces much cooler working temperatures and  increased efficiency with much less inertia loss. The cutter head is able to be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise at variable speed.
Hydraulic driven TBMs can lose up to 1000 gallons of oil per mile of tunnel, therefore producing unnecessary environmental concerns and maintenance costs.

* Slurry Free Spoil Removal - The rock crusher feature allows the auger to run as a dry system. This in  turn
eliminates the cost of setting up and maintaining a slurry system. Dry spoil removal in  abrasive materials also means less wear and tear on parts, thus reducing replacement and retooling costs.
