Soldier Pile and Lagging

Soldier Pile and Lagging Shafts

This type of shaft is employed when a strong shaft is required in reasonably stable ground at a depth where H piles can be drilled into place in advance of the excavation. Timber lagging is installed behind the steel piles as the excavation proceeds.

Soldier pile and lagging makes for an excellent shaft for pipe jacking where high thrust load are applied to the back of the shaft.
